A Display Typeface Inspired by Lucian Bernhard
Ciclo is a type system inspired by the work of Lucian Bernhard, specifically Bernhard Modern, with high contrast and a dramatically inclined axis.
The inclination of the internal axis, nearly 45 degrees in some characters, was found to be a particularly intriguing aspect of the original reference.

A Steep Internal Axis
To that end, I have endeavored to preserve a notably steep angle in the majority of the characters within the Display family. The rotation of the internal axis is a defining characteristic of Ciclo Display, giving the typeface its distinctive visual rhythm and expressive personality.
Part of the Ciclo Type System
Ciclo is conceived as a type system rather than a single display style. The system includes a Display family with higher contrast and a steeper tilt angle, as well as a Text family with lower contrast and a reduced tilt angle for easier reading.
The system also explores a third variant, Subhead, created through the interpolation between the Display and Text versions. In this system, the angle of the internal axis becomes a factor that determines the optical sizes of the different variants.
Designed for Display Typography
Ciclo Display is designed for expressive display typography, where high contrast, optical size, and the dramatically inclined internal axis become essential parts of the typographic composition.
